Our Columbia, SC dental office offers the best, proven technology to improve the experience and results of our patients. Here are some of the exceptional technology and dental comfort we offer at our dental office.

Intraoral Camera

Do you wish you could see your mouth the way we see it? That way, you wouldn’t have to take our word on the condition of your mouth, and you could make better informed decisions about your dental treatment. With our intraoral camera, you can see exactly what we see. We will take digital images of your teeth and put them on the screen so you can see all the damage, wear, discoloration, and other problems we notice. This can help you understand why treatment is necessary so you make the best decisions for your oral health.

Digital X-Rays

Traditional film x-rays had a number of problems. They were small, because the film had to be small to fit in the mouth, and the radiation had to be strong enough to properly expose the film. The film had to be developed, and they were hard to transport and share. But with digital x-rays, we can easily magnify the digital images so you can see more detail. The images are available right away, and we can easily email them to you or another health provider. Plus, the x-rays use less radiation.

VELscope

Oral cancer treatment has one big challenge: detection. When detected early, the survival rate is over 90%, but currently the challenge of detection means that the overall survival rate is less than 50%. VELscope can change that. This simple screening method–a special light we shine in your mouth–lets us detect suspicious areas of the mouth so you can have them tested for cancer.

TENS

If you have an unhealthy bite, your muscles learn to cope. They may be tense and sore, but it’s hard to get them to give up the habits they’ve developed. TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) is a special muscle massager that loosens up your muscles so they give up their bad habits. TENS can help us diagnose your TMJ, and in some cases, this muscle massage is all the treatment that’s necessary.

Planmeca CBCT

We use the Planmeca CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) system to ensure precise imaging for dental procedures like dental implants. This advanced technology creates detailed 3D images, allowing us to accurately assess bone shape and density, which is essential for successful treatment planning.

The Planmeca CBCT system is open and comfortable, using significantly less radiation than traditional CT scans. It provides in-office, rapid scans, eliminating the need for additional referrals or travel. This technology helps us plan faster procedures with better results, reducing the risk of surprises and improving overall treatment quality.

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

Our body has amazing resources for healing, and we like to utilize them whenever possible to speed recovery from your dental procedure. That’s where platelet rich fibrin (PRF) comes in. PRF is used to help speed recovery from dental implant surgery, speeding the formation of new bone and gum tissue. It’s your own natural healing factors, concentrated from your blood at the time of your procedure.
